London-born artist Rory Mackay studied Fine Art in Florence, where he fell in love with painting and honed his skills in the Old Masters style. On return to London, he enrolled at the infamous Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design where he broadened his skill-set with varied disciplines such as mixed media painting, printmaking and digital photography. Rory began exhibiting his works globally, from Christie's in London to interior designer Antony Todd's New York showroom.
Rory begain specializing in animals around 2006 after popular demand from clients. Since then, his client list has grown exponetially with international commissions and celebrity. In 2011 Rory was commissioned by Ivana Trump to paint her Yorkshire Terrier, Tiger. That same year, Australian supermodel Kristy Hinze commissioned a painting of her three Schnauzers. In 2016, Rory had the privilege of meeting Dr Jane Goodall, who's Global Institute had commissioned custom notecards featuring chimps, as well as personal notecards for Dr Goodall herself.
In 2013, Rory launched Letterpress Pet Stationery™ - an elegant line of hand-illustrated designs available as gift box sets for pet lovers or as fully bespoke, commissioned designs featuring your very own pet. Utilizing the centuries-old art of letterpress printing, each design in impressed into a colourful, duplexed blend of thick card stock unique to Rory Mackay Designs.
